The past two weeks have proven to be fruitful for members of the WRC. Mark Eissens and Wade Miller earned wins at the
Vince Tantillo-Jack Barr Memorial 5k and the Bash Dash One Mile, respectively.

Mark Eissens won the 5000 meter race by an impressive 30 seconds proving that he is an asset to the WRC.  Other WRC members included Jeff McCauley and Bill Walls finishing third and eighth, respectively.
Once again WRC showed its dominance as a team at the Bash Dash 1 Mile Race in Hancock, Maryland. The setting was perfect with the presence of County Commissioner Terry Baker and future Commissioner Jeff Cline. WRC had to succeed and that they did. Wade Miller pulled out an impressive victory running 4:30.74.

“I happened to be lucky enough to rise up through the ranks and get the win…” said Miller, “but I know there are a lot of guys in the WRC who could have taken it. That’s depth.”

Depth is the right word to use with Mark Eissens finishing second with a time of 4:36.57, and Bill Walls finishing fifth in 4:49.61.

A very positive community event honoring a fallen champion of the greater Hagerstown area also turned out to be a very impressive performance for the Williamsport Running Club.

The WRC had quite a successful showing at one of it's first major local road races: the inaugural Nick Adenhart 5k Run/Walk. The club took first, third, sixth and tenth in the overall race--and first place in the women's overall race--easily showing itself as the top team represented at the event.

Club member Wade Miller won the event in 16 minutes and 15 seconds. "It was really great to get out there and wear the club singlet in such a major community event," said Miller. "Hopefully the strong WRC performance will help get the club off the ground and running."

Member Mark Eissens battled fever and illness the throughout the day and previous night, but still managed to put in a surge in the later stages of the race to lock the third position in 16:41. "I was full-blown sick," he said. "I still decided to show up and see how I felt."

With this positive performance behind it, the WRC does not currently have any solid plans as to when it's next outing will be.

Other WRC placers in the race were:
-Jeff McCauley 6th 17:38
-Bill Walls 10th 18:23
-Jennifer Plevinski 16th 19:36 (1st female overall)
